It is now 3 days since Matt has left to Bulgaria and since day me and Bree have been having some interesting times in Istanbul. Interesting, you can say that again.
On Saturday night we went to town with Simon to go to a leaving party of a friend of his. The party was up the fifth floor of this building, which had the most amazing view of the old part of the city. It was cool cool because all the mosques and the Gelato tower was all lit up. After this we walked around the cool busy streets of the night life, visited another bar and made it back to the apartment at 3.45 am Sun. Consequently, we had a late start on Sunday. We planned to go to the Top Kapi Palace and the Aya Sofia (really hope I spelled these right, but I am just too tred to get up and check right now!). We made a bit of a blooper and went to the suburb Top Kapi rather than the palace, which meant we got to admire the city walls, but did mean a very crowded trip back.
The Palace was very cool, and pretty, but unfortunately rather touristy and busy, which was hard to deal feeling so tired. We didn’t make it to the Aya Sofia, because of the tram delay, rumbling tummies and several stalkers, which has to be expanded on.
stalker nr 1: random guy at the palace that asked me to take a picture of him, tried to talk to me when I was resting later, then happnened to take the same side exit as us.
stalker nr 2: who tried to talk to us with his knowledge of visiting New Zealand and then tried to get us to have dinner at his restaurant, which we got out of by Bree making a fake phone call to Simon and claiming that we were meeting Simon at the tram.
stalker nr 3: random store guy came out of the store and said
“do you remember me?…
… Because I remember you …..
……………..
from last night…….
………………
in my dreams.”
Oh how cheesy! He was easy to shake off when we told him we didnt drink any tea!
and then stalker nr 1 suddenly popped up besides us with a business card that said
“do you want to go eating with me?”
Luckily, he left happily (wel maybe he was not so happy) when I said no.
Today, Simon had the morning of so we had a bodyguard, which was very nice (Thank you Simon, we love you). We checked out a few neighbourhoods (need help here!) and then went down the main street to explore the side streets a bit more. Simon only left us alone for 20 minutes to go and get his suit for work and we already managed to get 2 stalkers! luckily, we managed to get away after 5 minutes.
We went back to the Ciya Sofrasi in Kadikoy to have a late lunch, which was absolute amazing again. Then we sent Simon to work and got some strawberries and Turkish delight, which was very good. After this we took the ferry back and walked around the main street. On the ferry we picked up some more stalkers, which was very creepy as they managed to keep following us after we dropped into shops, sidestreets. and just when we thought that we had shaking them off they got on the same metro as us and just kept staring at us!! So uncomfortable!! Luckily they didn’t follow us to the apartment! But we difinitely need to have Matt back.
Then you will have to come here
Enjoy the tour, hopefully that should provide a bit of backup!
